e-sgol

Powys is currently undergoing a digital learning revolution! We have recently signed up to the Welsh Government e-sgol project which places digital learning at the heart of course delivery.

What is e-sgol?

e-sgol is a projected supported by Welsh Government to expand opportunities for Post-14 pupils to study courses that would not otherwise be avaliable to them. Lessons happen via a live video link from the teacher while the pupils can remain in their school.

How does it work?

Lessons are provided in the pupil's school through digital means. These are "live" lessons with an experienced and qualified teacher. The teacher is located in another school.

The teaching groups are small in numbers and pupils can communicate with the teacher from their school.

Teachers can provide pupils with live feedback through the system, and pupils can contribute orally to the lesson exactly as if the teacher was in the room.

What equipment is avaliable?

Depending on the subject taught, pupils may also receive a personal laptop to use for the duration of the course.
