Overview of the course

A Diploma in Hospitality Services is made up of food and non-food units.

It is a 14 month programme 64 credits.

Learners are required to take mandatory units which cover aspects of maintaining a safe, hygienic and secure, working environment, working effectively as part of a hospitality team, giving customers a positive impression of themselves and their organisation and cleaning and servicing a range of housekeeping areas in a hospitality environment.

Learners then have a choice of optional units covering different hospitality areas such as front of house reception, housekeeping or hospitality services.

There is a wide range of optional units allowing learners to choose units to meet the needs of their own work role.

Learners will need to have a work placement for live assessments, these cannot be simulated

Learners will be expected to do 1 or 2 days per week with an employer as well as 1 or 2 days per month in classroom. Access to a laptop would be beneficial.

Opportunities

Following successful completion of this course, you can choose to progress to a related Level 3 courses or apprenticeships. Alternatively, you can opt to go into employment in the catering and hospitality industry, utilising the skills and knowledge you have.
